Pastor Glen W. Gordon, Sr. was born and raised in Pewee Valley, Kentucky. He graduated from Oldham County High School in Buckner, Kentucky. After graduation, he served in the United States Marine Corps from 1977 to 1980 and received an honorable discharge at the end of his tour of duty.
Upon returning to his hometown, Pastor Gordon reunited with his home church, Kenwood Northeast Baptist Church. At Kenwood, he continued to serve God by singing in the Brotherhood, participating in outreach ministries, and becoming a Deacon. Eventually, he acknowledged his calling to preach the gospel and expressed gratitude for God’s blessings and the opportunity to lead worship and teach others.
Pastor Gordon earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theology from Simmons College of Kentucky (formerly Simmons Bible College). Following the guidance of the Holy Spirit, he accepted the call to serve as the Pastor of Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Brandenburg, Kentucky, where he dedicated twelve and a half years of service. Zion Grove was a longstanding member of the General Association of Baptists in Kentucky. During his time there, Pastor Gordon helped the church achieve dual alignment by joining The Salem Association, which included 19 other neighboring churches, and The Kentucky Baptist Convention. His love and commitment to the members and the community were reflected in his outreach efforts. Additionally, he held the roles of vice moderator and moderator of The Mount Calvary District.
After completing his pastoral assignment at Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor Gordon felt God’s calling to unite with St. James Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as an Associate Minister for five years under Pastor Allen Evans, Jr.
At St. James, Pastor Gordon was actively involved in various roles, including the Christian Education Team, Missions Ministry, and Youth Ministry. Following Pastor Evans’ retirement, Pastor Gordon was called to become the ninth Pastor of St. James Missionary Baptist Church.
He is happily married to Robin Elaine Williams. Together, they have been blessed with a wonderful family that includes five sons and one daughter. Their family has also grown to include thirteen grandchildren, who bring immense joy and happiness to their lives, serving as a true testament to the blessings of a strong and loving marriage.
